Mount MeruArusha National Park
Forest trails, volcanic ridges and a mountain journey above Arusha.

Give Meru a journey of its own.
Mount Meru stands within Arusha National Park, rising from forest into a landscape of volcanic ridges and an ash cone. Its changing terrain gives the climb a character of its own.
Meru can be the focus of a mountain holiday rather than an extra stop. Share your dates and available days so the walking, overnight stops and onward travel can be planned together.
Volcanic scenery
Explore the mountain’s ridges and views towards the ash cone.
Forest trails
Begin in a greener landscape before the higher terrain.
A focused trek
Give the climb its own place in your Tanzania itinerary.

Then plan the climb.
Season and available time help shape a practical Mount Meru trip.
A commonly chosen season
Arusha National Park identifies June to September as one of its preferred visiting periods. Discuss your mountain dates and overnight plan before fixing the rest of your trip.
Another useful window
December to early March is another period to consider. As with any mountain journey, conditions can change, so leave the detailed route planning to a conversation with the team.
Meru and the wider trip
A Meru climb can sit alongside a safari or another mountain journey. Plan the walking days, transfers and time between activities together rather than rushing each part.
Mountain weather varies and can differ from conditions in Arusha town.
Before you go
Can Meru be my main mountain trip?
Yes. Its forest and volcanic landscapes make it worth planning as a journey in its own right. Tell us how many days you can set aside.
Can I add wildlife time in Arusha National Park?
Arusha National Park also offers wildlife and other landscapes. Ask about combining the climb with additional time in the park or a wider safari.
