The majority of visitors arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) through Kenya’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) in Nairobi or Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR) in Dar es Salaam. Another option is to land at Arusha Airport (ARK), a local airport that provides convenient access to Mt Kilimanjaro and the wildlife reserves of the Northern Circuit.

Tanzania’s national parks are accessible year-round, with each season offering its own pros and cons. The extended dry season (mid-June to October) is ideal for safaris due to cooler weather, minimal rainfall, and better animal visibility. The short dry season (January to mid-March) is great for lush landscapes, birdwatching, and witnessing the calving season.

A tourist visa for Tanzania allows visitors to stay for a maximum of 90 days. The fee is US$50 for non-US citizens and US$100 for US citizens. However, nationals from approximately 50 countries, such as South Africa, Kenya, Hong Kong, Singapore, China, India, Brazil, and Turkey, do not need a visa to enter Tanzania.

There are no required vaccinations for entry into Tanzania.
