Kilimanjaro Climbing

Tanzania info & facts

Swahili, English

Tanzanian shilling (TZS)

Most of our Visitors fly into Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) in Kilimanjaro. If you’re coming from outside East Africa, you’ll likely have to connect through Nairobi (Kenya) or Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) to get to JRO.

Tanzania’s national parks are accessible year-round, with each season offering its own pros and cons. The extended dry season (mid-June to October) is ideal for safaris due to cooler weather, minimal rainfall, and better animal visibility. The short dry season (January to mid-March) is great for lush landscapes, birdwatching, and witnessing the calving season.

A tourist visa for Tanzania allows visitors to stay for a maximum of 90 days. The fee is US$50 for non-US citizens and US$100 for US citizens. However, nationals from approximately 50 countries, such as South Africa, Kenya, Hong Kong, Singapore, China, India, Brazil, and Turkey, do not need a visa to enter Tanzania.

Climbing Kilimanjaro is safe as long as you go with a trusted tour operator who prioritizes your well-being. The main concern during the climb is dealing with the high altitude, so make sure you’re aware of Kilimanjaro altitude sickness. Remember to have travel insurance that includes coverage for hiking up to 6,000 m above sea level if you plan to climb Kilimanjaro with theKili-Guides.
